Well the busy season in Islamorada still continues into June. I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to post my Islamorada Fishing Reports, but here’s what I have to say for the last few weeks! We’ve had some incredible mahi fishing this year. Not every day has been great, but we’ve caught more nice size fish cows and nice bulls (15-30 lbs) this season in a month than I did all of last year! The Reef Fishing has also been great lately! We have been catching plenty of yellowtail snapper, a few mutton snappers, lots of vermillion snapper, and a few black groupers. The Permit on the wrecks have been a little tricky, but we out smarted this one a few days ago with a live crab. Offshore the Swordfish had my number for a few trips in a row, but yesterday we turned the tables on the them and caught and released 2 fish. We had 2 bites on 7 drifts. They weren’t monsters, one about 40 and one about 60 lbs. The blackfin tuna have been thin this year so far. We caught a handful of wahoo lately, some on debris offshore and one trolling about 10 days ago. As we get into summer we will continue to go offshore for mahi, tuna, and swordfish. The reef should still provide action, but if the water gets really clean (as it does often in the summer) the fish do get tougher to catch.
